If you have been thinking about buying a pool table you may be wondering if you have enough room for a pool table. We sometimes move pool tables for customers into rooms that are just too small to play comfortably. It can be really frustrating when you can’t make any shots because the space is too small.
The biggest mistake we see people make, is forgetting that the standard pool cue is almost 5 feet long. While their pool table fits in the room, they can’t comfortably play and make shots. You can buy shorter cues to make up for the lack of space, the shortest cue we would recommend is a 48″ cue. Whether or not you can get away with short cues depends on whether you are a serious pool player, or if you just want to have some fun and entertain.

7 Foot Pool Table Size
The smallest pool table you can buy is 7′ x 3.5′. Consequently, the smallest room you could have a 7 foot table in, and be able to use a standard pool cue is a 13′ x 16′ room.
You could get away with a smaller space, if you are willing to use short cues. If you have a 11′ by 14′ room, you could still fit a 7 foot table in.
8 Foot Pool Table Size
The most common pool table size is an 8 foot table. The dimensions are approximately 8′ x 4′. Therefore the ideal size for this table would be 13′ x 17′.
If you were to use short cues you could play in a 12′ x 15′ room.
9 Foot Pool Table Size
A 9 foot pool table is about 9′ x 4.5′. The ideal room size for this table would be 14′ x 18′.
You can still play on a 9 foot pool table in a room that is 12′ x 16′.
